Terms of Use
QuitOS: Stop Drinking · quitOS LLC · Effective August 25, 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and quitOS LLC ("we," "us") for the QuitOS: Stop Drinking app. By using the app, you agree to them. They are written to be read, not skimmed, so they are short.
Not medical advice
QuitOS: Stop Drinking is not a medical device, does not diagnose or treat any condition, and is not a substitute for a doctor, a therapist, a treatment program, or a recovery fellowship. The pattern read, the check-in, and the supportive replies are general information built from your own inputs. They are not tailored medical advice.
Withdrawal from alcohol can be medically dangerous. If you drink heavily every day, stopping abruptly can cause seizures and other serious harm, and in some cases it can kill. Talk to a doctor before you stop. Getting medical supervision for that first stretch is not a failure of willpower, it is the safe way to do the thing you are trying to do. This app cannot supervise a withdrawal and does not try to.
Talk to a healthcare professional before changing your drinking if you are pregnant, take medication that alcohol affects, or have a history of serious mental illness. If you are having thoughts of harming yourself, stop using the app and contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988 in the United States) or your local emergency number. This app is not a crisis service.
Who can use it
You must be at least 18 years old. Beyond that, the app is built for people of legal drinking age wherever they live, which in the United States means 21. If you are under 18, do not use it.
There is no account
You do not sign up and we do not know who you are. Everything you enter lives in your phone's own storage, as our Privacy Policy describes. That means it is yours to keep and yours to lose: if you delete the app or lose the phone, the history goes with it, and we cannot restore it because we never had it.
The ride home
This is the part of the app worth understanding before you need it.
- We provide a link, not a ride. Tapping Ride home opens Uber with your saved home address as the destination. Uber provides the transportation. We are not a transportation provider, we are not affiliated with Uber, and we are not a party to whatever happens between you and them.
- We do not promise a ride will be there. Availability, price, wait time, and whether the trip happens at all are Uber's, and depend on your phone, your connection, your account with them, and where you are. The button can fail for any of those reasons.
- We are not liable for the ride. Anything that happens during or because of a trip you book is between you, your driver, and Uber.
- It is a convenience, never a substitute for your own judgment. The app cannot stop anyone from driving and does not claim to. Do not drive after drinking. If the button does not work, do not treat that as permission to get behind the wheel: call someone, call a cab, or stay where you are.
The app does not track your location, so it does not know whether you took a ride or whether you got home. Nothing about the ride home is monitored or reported to anyone.
Your buddy
Your accountability partner is a person you chose, not a service we provide. The app prepares messages to them and opens your texting app; you send them. It cannot send anything on its own. Your buddy may be asleep, out of signal, or unwilling to help on a given night, and we cannot promise otherwise. Do not rely on the buddy feature as an emergency plan.
The supportive replies
The replies are software, not a person, and they can be wrong. They are there to steady you, not to give medical instructions or to talk you through a medical emergency. Do not rely on them for anything a clinician should handle.
Price
This version of the app has no subscription, no in-app purchases, and no paid tier. If we add paid features later, we will update these terms and the date at the top, and tell you before anything is charged.
Acceptable use
Do not use the app to harass anyone, to reverse engineer or interfere with it, or for anything illegal. We may end your license to use it if you do.
Our content and your content
The app, its design, text, and artwork belong to quitOS LLC. You get a personal, non-transferable license to use it on Apple devices you own or control, under Apple's standard App Store terms. The log and history you create are yours, and they stay on your device.
Availability and changes
Features may change or be removed. We cannot promise the app, the notifications, or the handoff to Uber will always work, and you should not build a plan that depends on any of them being available at a particular moment.
Disclaimer and limitation of liability
The app is provided "as is." To the fullest extent permitted by law, quitOS LLC disclaims all warranties, express or implied, and is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including anything arising from a ride you booked, a message that did not send, a notification that did not arrive, or a decision you made while using it. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
Apple
Apple is not a party to these terms, has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for the app, and is not responsible for any claims about the app. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Louisiana, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Louisiana, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top and tell you in the app before the change takes effect. Continuing to use the app after that means you accept the new terms.
