QuitOS: Stop Drinking · quitOS LLC · Effective August 25, 2026
QuitOS: Stop Drinking helps people quit drinking or cut back. This policy explains exactly what the app stores and where it goes. It describes what the software actually does, not what we might do later.
There is no account
You do not sign up. You do not give us an email address or a name. We do not know who you are, we cannot look you up, and we have no record of you anywhere, because this version of the app has no server behind it and makes no calls to one.
What the app stores, and where
All of it lives in your device's local storage and only there:
- Your path. Whether you are trying to quit or trying to cut back.
- Your day log. One bit per day: drinking or not drinking, plus the time you started if it was a drinking day. There is no drink counting in this app, on purpose, so there is no drink count to store.
- Your home address. Set once during setup, used to prefill the ride home.
- Your buddy. The name and phone number of the one person you pick as your accountability partner.
- Your weight entries, if you turned weight tracking on. It is off unless you switch it on, and it is invisible when off.
None of this is uploaded. None of it is backed up to us. If you delete the app, it is gone, and we cannot restore it for you because we never had a copy.
Your contacts
If you use the contact picker to choose your buddy, the app reads your address book at that moment and only to show you the list. It saves the one person you pick, on your device. Nothing else is read, kept, or sent. You can skip the picker and type a name and number instead.
The ride home, and Uber
Tapping Ride home opens Uber through a link with your saved home address filled in as the destination. At that moment, your home address is handed to Uber. That is the only piece of information this app ever shares with anyone, it happens only when you tap the button, and from that point Uber's own privacy policy governs what happens in Uber.
We are not told whether you requested a ride, whether one arrived, or where you went. The app hands off to Uber and stops.
No location tracking, deliberately
The app never reads your GPS. It does not follow you, does not draw a boundary around your house, does not check whether the ride went where it was supposed to, and does not know whether you got home. This was considered during design and deliberately rejected. A sober adult should not have to be watched every night to catch the rare bad one. Ride home stays simple: Uber, your address already in, done.
The check-in
The app learns your own pattern from the days you logged and schedules a local notification on your phone at the time you tend to start. Your phone does the scheduling and your phone delivers it. No pattern data and no notification data reaches us, because there is nowhere for it to go.
The buddy message
When the app offers to text your buddy, it prepares the message and opens your phone's own texting app with the text already written. It sends only when you tap send. The app cannot send a message on its own, and nothing in it sends itself. The text goes from your number, through your carrier, the way any text you write does.
This includes the fifteen-minute follow-up. If you tell the check-in you have been drinking and then go quiet, the app warns you up front that it will bring your buddy in. When that moment comes, it prepares the message and waits for you to send it.
The supportive replies
When you log a day, the app writes you back. In this version those replies are generated on the device. No text you write is sent over the network, to us or to anyone else, because the app makes no network calls for it.
Who else is involved
- Uber receives your home address as a destination, only at the moment you tap Ride home.
- Apple distributes the app.
That is the complete list. There are no advertising networks, no analytics providers, and no data brokers, because the app contains no code that talks to any. We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Deleting your data
Delete the app, or use the reset in settings. Either one wipes everything, immediately and permanently, because everything was on your phone the whole time. There is no account to close and nothing for us to erase on our end.
Children
QuitOS: Stop Drinking is built for adults of legal drinking age. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. Since the app collects nothing at all, there is nothing about anyone, of any age, in our hands.
Changes
A future version may add accounts, sync between devices, or supportive replies generated on a server instead of on your phone. Any of those would change what leaves your phone, so none of them will arrive quietly. We will update this policy, change the date at the top, and tell you in the app before the change takes effect.
